Sand Bay is proud to present some of the best bands on offer, including George Thorby and his Big Band, Todd Miller & The Joe Loss Orchestra and the Nick Ross Orchestra, so you can be sure to savour the swing music as it was intended.
Meet the Bands
George Thorby and his Big Band
The George Thorby Big Band was formed by George in 1952 and has been working constantly since then. Over the years the personnel in the band has changed many times over, but two of the original line up of the band, Ronnie Findon (saxophone & clarinet) and Gordon Rushton (trombone), still feature regularly.
Nick Ross and his Orchestra

Todd Miller and The Joe Loss Orchestra
The Joe Loss Orchestra is one of Britain’s most popular music orchestras of the past 50 years. The Joe Loss Orchestra has performed live on BBC, ITV, Channel4, Sky, Hong Kong TV and more, and has been broadcasted on radio stations throughout Europe.
Steve King Big Band
One of the leading exponents of big band music. The current line-up is an eclectic mix of seasoned pros and semi-pros including some of the brightest sparks in the jazz scene today which helps keep the band at the forefront of the burgeoning big band movement.
Chris Smith and his String of Pearls
One of Britain’s most popular Big Bands, they create a truly lively party atmosphere with a programme ranging from Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra through to the Swinging 60s, with something for all age groups.
Jeff Hooper & his Swing Easy Big Band
The Jeff Hooper Swing Easy Big Band has “swung” into the big band arena with a fresh new sound which continues to dazzle audiences and bring them to standing ovations in functions and theatres nationwide.
